IT Partner Organisations

During the implementation of the Industrial Transformation (IT) research agenda and at the many IT endorsed meetings we had a chance to meet with representatives of institutes, whose scientific curricula relate to the IT agenda and many of the research activities of these organizations are inspired by the same notion as reflected in the IT Science Plan. We would like to bring these institutes together and as far as we can - promote their work at a more international arena
and cooperate on building the Global Environmental Change agenda. We therefore propose a new endorsement category - IT Partner Institute.

In a broad sense IT Partner Institute conducts research, which:

1. Deals with the relationship between societal, technological, and environmental change;

2. Focuses on systems and explores system changes that are relevant in view of the global environment;

3. Relates producer and consumer perspectives, including the incentives and institutions that help in shaping these perspectives;

4. Is international in scope. Researchers from more than one country and preferably more than one continent cooperate on research projects.

To facilitate the promotion and start cooperation t
he IT IPO would like to:

  1. Include in the IT website a short description of such organisation’s curriculum and emphasise its’ linkages with the IT framework.
  2. Make a link to the institute’s homepage.
  3. Promote its research activities and publications at international meetings and through the IT materials.
  4. Keep the research staff of the IT Partner Institute informed of the IT activities and research/conference opportunities.
  5. Include relevant literature positions of the IT Partner Institute in the online Reference Manager.
  6. Provide with an opportunity of participating in the meetings on shaping GEC research agenda.

To propose IT Partner Institute, please be so kind as to send the following information to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it :

  1. A short description of the organization curriculum (no more than 400 words) that the IPO could include on the IT website.

  2. A brief clarification (in bullets) of how this research relates to the IT framework, does it focus on any of the IT fields (Energy and Material Flows, Food, Cities with focus on water and transportation, Information and Communication, Governance and transformation Processes.) or research questions of the IT Science Plan?

  3. A link and full address of the institute/organization as well as coordinates of a contact person.

  4. A list of IT relevant publications for inclusion in the Reference Manager.

After endorsement we would request IT Partner Institute to:

  1. Actively promote the IT approaches via link to the IT homepage, references and at the various meetings and workshops IT attends.

  2. Make a reference to the Industrial Transformation and Global Environmental Change in the research activities and publications.

  3. Consider submitting at least one project for IT endorsement.

  4. Provide the IPO with short updates on recent projects and publications that are of importance to IT.

  5. Seek to attend IT conferences and workshops in appropriate circumstances.

To propose a project for IT endorsement, please follow the Terms of Reference for endorsement of projects and use the proposal form.

In case the scientific scope of the organization changes to the extent that it does not correspond with the IT approaches or if no update is sent to the IPO when requested, the IT Scientific Steering Committee may decide to remove the institute from the list of IT Partner Institutes.
